The Lord tells us to wash with water not because we will die from germs, but to instead wash ourselves so that we do not die from our sin. Germs are not in control, God is. No germ can attack you without the Lord’s permission. Focus not so much on how you are sanitizing your hands for health reading this chapter but how you are sanitizing your heart for health. Again, not with a special diet, but with your thoughts and words that come from your heart. Are they encouraging? Could they use some cleaning up? Baptism is a public display where believers profess their faith that Jesus Christ is our savior, and wash with water as a sign that they are choosing to wash themselves of sin, and are clean by the Lord’s Spirit. Then, they take up their cross to follow Jesus and live like Him so that they will not die. It’s symbolic of telling the world that you are choosing to repent, or to turn, from your former life of sin so that you may follow our example of our Lord into sanctification and salvation. I pray you make the choice today to rid yourself of all worldly desire to instead live a pure life, clean before the Lord, because of His salvation. He has already saved you. He loves you that much. Accept His Spirit into your heart so that you will not die. If you’re not already a believer in this Truth, let me know today that you made the choice to follow Jesus so that we can talk more about what that looks like, sister!
““I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
Matthew 3:11
