Now we see Moses given the task from God to build a dwelling place for Him on earth in this chapter. However, the Lord could never successfully live in something built by human hands because of how big and awesome He is. He had to come and do it Himself. So, when Jesus died and the curtain of the temple split, He gave us access to Him again, in another way. Now, He has come to be with us in spirit, as the Holy Spirit. His Spirit is now here on earth to help us throughout our days, leading our hearts to His perfect will, and teaching us right from wrong. I can’t imagine living in this world without it, before Jesus came. Knowing the difference it has made in my life, I also can’t imagine the amazing moment when I actually get to dwell with the real living Lord forever! God started the world by living with His people, Adam and Eve. We read about how He was walking around in the garden with them back in Genesis. Now, He’s asking His people to make a dwelling place for Him again so that he can attempt to live with them even after sin has entered the world, but we all know that the Lord and sin can’t be together, so it won’t work out. But God has always just wanted us. He’s always wanted to be with His people and live with us. I always think about how awful this world is and how badly I just want a huge hug from Him some days.... but I’d never considered how much this awful world just breaks His heart, how we’re separated from Him, and how badly He just wants a huge hug from us every day... I bet His anticipation for the day we all live together again is even greater than we can ever imagine, just like His love. If you’re craving to live with the Lord today and haven’t let Him into your heart yet, then pray to Jesus that His Spirit enters your heart to guide you and teach you His ways. You are His temple, since His home can only be something created by His hands. He’s just longing to be reunited with You again, sister 🤍
Did you receive a different understanding from the Spirit? Did a different verse stand out to you other than the one I shared? I’d love to hear! Post a comment below about what you understood from this chapter so we can discuss His story more.
“And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.”
Revelation 21:3
