Hi, sister! I hope you’ve continued your daily Bible reading since Exodus and have been blessed with the closeness of the Lord through His Word. If you are struggling keeping your daily Bible time, then I want to ask you... is there anything else in this world that will provide you the strength you need to succeed in your day other than our Lord Jesus Christ? I know nothing else in my life can... not even sleep. If your answer is also no, then you have no other choice than to be setting aside at least 30 minutes to be refueled by His love daily. He is waiting for you to rest with Him so He can refresh you! No other “self love” time can do what He has the power to do in your life. Find a time that works best for you and start today!
That being said, since our time in Exodus I am now in Leviticus 15. Leviticus is a whole book describing how unclean we are in comparison to our holy Lord. Due to the introduction of sin, we have fallen from the holiness in which God has created us to be, and He goes into great detail about the ways in which we are afflicted due to this sin and unable to be in His presence because of this sin, what we’d need to do to be clean so that we are able to live in His dwelling and of course the consequences if we do not take the proper precautions to remain clean in His presence.
From this chapter alone, it is made obvious how we are just perpetually unclean. Discharge, scans, sex... all normal daily occurrences for us! We would all die by defiling His promised land when you choose to live among us. There are so ordinary for us in our lives that we don’t even see them as unclean or a consequence from the introduction of sin because we don’t know any better. However, God tells us here clearly that it is not holy, not how we were created to be, and that these consequences of sin will lead to the ultimate consequence on His day when He chooses to raise up His children to dwell with Him forever - that we will die for our uncleanness by defiling His holy land. But instead of what we deserve, He has provided us a way out. He’s given us His one and only Son to live on earth for thirty three years perfectly so that He could be the Savior of all His people. Because of my sin and consequences thereof, He came to live sinless and to die in my place so that I don’t have to. Because of your sin and consequences thereof, He came to follow every command perfectly and to die in your place so that you don’t have to die! He did not come to condemn, but to save us all from that eternal fate 🙌🏻 PRAISE GOD.
Listen, if you have not made Jesus Christ the Lord of your heart, then you are missing out on this beautiful gift that we could have never done anything to earn but that He ever so graciously knew we needed so offered it Himself anyways. You are missing this chance of salvation from the despair of being separated from the Lord‘s dwelling place forever! But not only then, He also is here to protect us from evil now! And if you have made Him the Lord of your heart and are not digging into His Word daily to learn who He is and what He’s done for you, then you are missing out on a huge opportunity for growth with Him! Make today the day.
If you aren’t already in the Bible daily, then open to Leviticus 15 and read just that chapter. Maybe a different verse stood out to you for whatever reason. Write it down in a journal and pray to the Lord with thanksgiving. Then comment on this post to let me know what verse it was that stood out to you and why! You do not have to feel that you’re tackling the Bible alone. You do not have to lean on a devotional for your time with the Lord. We can do this together! Then, set a time for tomorrow to read Leviticus 16 and do the same routine, and continue. Watch as your understanding and faith grow exponentially after spending time daily with Him. Your Father is waiting for you. Don’t put Him off another day.
