16, the Angel who has redeemed me from all harm- may He bless these boys. And may they be called by my name and the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac, and may they grow to be numerous within the land.

As Jesus redeems us of our harmful sin, blesses us and calls us by the name of Israel, we are promised to be given His “land as an eternal possession“ (verse 4). May this chapter give you hope for your day today.

Romans 11:26 - And so Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

Amen, as you mentioned in verse 16 being redeemed from harms way in the blessing also reminds me of the Lord’s Prayer “but deliver us from evil”.

In chapter 48, I also noticed how the right hand holds great significance as Israel used it to pass on the first born blessing. For instance, in today’s world if you are put under oath we would raise our right hand, when shaking someone’s hand we would use our right hand and when standing for the pledge we would place our right hand over our heart.

However, when passing on the first born blessing Israel didn’t place his right hand on Joseph’s first born but instead his younger son which made him upset.
