Genesis 46

Israel and Joseph are finally reunited again 🤍 I love these chapters at the end of Genesis. It’s my favorite story from the Bible!

verse 3, “God said, “I am God, the God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there.”

When I read this this morning I thought to myself, do people who claim to have anxiety realize how frequently in the Bible God tells us not to be afraid? Have they really read the Word to allow God to bring peace unto their hearts, or are they afraid because they are instead leaning on their own efforts to be successful and they realize their own efforts are worthless in this world? Maybe they don’t believe there really is a God who is all powerful to be able to save us and secure us regardless of our hardship. It makes me sad for those people.

Lord, I am so grateful that You have shown me Your face, and that no matter what I face in this world, You promise to make it good in the end. I have no reason to fear anything because I know everything comes from You. And if I do feel fear, let Your Spirit remind me of Your words to convict me of it, Lord. Thank You for Your discipline, and that I can know that you expect much more from me since I am Your daughter. Thank You for Your instruction, showing me my weaknesses so that I may repent and ask for forgiveness with no condemnation to be transformed more into my Savior. Thank You for working in me and revealing my flaws, and showing me Your ways so that I may be closer to You every day. I’m so grateful for You, even though being disciplined is hard, I am so grateful, Lord. Amen.

Scripture memory: “Don't worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.“

Philippians 4:6-7

I would have to agree it’s just something about stories with loved ones being able to reunite with each other that always gets me in my feels❤️

Chapter 46 gave us a brief overview of Israel’s descendants. I thought it was so sweet that Israel felt a sense of completeness and readiness to give up the ghost once being reunited with Joseph.

Genesis 46:30: “And Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen thy face, because thou art yet alive.”

Such a beautiful way to end his journey.
