Genesis 41

In chapter 41, Joseph finally leaves prison! And although he had no Scripture to remind him of God’s power, he remained absolutely faithful to God as we see in verse 16 when he is released. Instead of taking any sort of credit for the interpretations whatsoever, he glorifies God with what He can do. As daughters of the Lord following the examples He gives us in the Word, let us also strive to humble ourselves in the same way, not accepting any credit for our achievements throughout the day but instead glorifying the One who’s given us the resources to make these achievements in our lives possible. In verse 33, Joseph tells Pharaoh to find a “discerning” and “wise man” to be set over the land of Egypt. It turns out Joseph will be that man. It is by our example that we know we must be discerning in all we do to ensure whatever influences we may face come from our Lord Christ and wise to ignore whatever may not come from Him. Again, in verse 39, Pharaoh calls Joseph “wise,“ as we must be wise.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” ‭‭James‬ ‭1:5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Joseph was freed from prison, and went from needing to be shaved in the beginning of the chapter, to wearing Pharaoh’s signet ring, fine linen garments, and wearing a gold chain around his neck, and having his own chariot. He was given a wife, a daughter of a priest, placed second to Pharaoh in all of Egypt, and then had two sons of his own. The Lord restored everything Joseph had lost tenfold, except the relationship with his father, which will also come later. The Lord is the restorer of all things and if He has carried you long enough for you to be in this place, accepting teachings from Him that will forever bless you, then He will never stop His work in you and never leave your side. “Joseph named the firstborn Manasseh, meaning, ‘God has made me forget all my hardship in my father’s house.’” (Verse 51) 🤍 Anyone who had a tough time growing up will be restored by the will of God as He makes us forget all of our past hardships and ”makes us fruitful in the land of our affliction.” (Verse 52).

Also, did anyone realize that in verse 46, “Joseph was 30 years old when he entered the service of the Pharaoh”? The same age that Jesus was when he began preaching. It just makes me think 30 is special to God...

Let’s pray together to thank God of all the blessings He bestows onto our lives,

”Father, thank You so much for caring for us, though we be but dust. Thank You for being with us, and for always restoring to us more than whatever has been lost. We praise you this morning as we are able to lean faithfully on You, Father, who is our stronghold and never fleeting like anything else of this world, that will be with us one minute and gone the next. You are a faithful God, staying with us through the dark pits, through the chains, through all of our affliction, to deliver us in the end. Your power echoes through all of the books of Scripture, Lord, and we are so ever grateful that You love us and offer us Your grace, so that we may serve You daily with all of our hearts and all our minds and all of our bodies. Please show us You’re with us today as we tackle another day in this evil world by helping us be discerning and wise to Your ways, Lord, because all we ever want is to be with You. Amen.”

May this bless you,

Sofía

I know! If he can keep his faith in God through being thrown in a pit, being sold for slavery, and being thrown in jail falsely, then no doubt I can choose to keep my faith in God through the insignificant trials I face every day in comparison. I’m so thankful God gave us these examples to keep us strong in Him by!

It’s always so amazing to me and such a testimony of faith of how faithful Joseph is. He remains steady and true the entire course. What a special reminder!

Amen,

Here is my take on chapter 41:

The Pharaoh was troubled and needed someone to interpret his dream and the chief butler finally pulled through and remembered Joseph and how he was able to interpret his dream. In the Pharaoh’s dream it was interpreted that it will be a famine and what I recall is that when God wants to bring his people closer to him he tends to send drought and famine on his people, for the purpose of bringing them to repentance. The Pharaoh believed Joseph because he sees the spirit of God within him and declared him ruler over all the land of Egypt. This reminded me of the dream Joseph had long before that …
