Abraham probably found his wife among the people of the nation, not of his bloodline, and that is why he sent all of his other sons away because they were not born of the promise. It exemplifies the distinction between us believers who are of the Lords promise snd the importance to send those who are not of the promise away from our lives. We should live seperately from the darkness around us in the world. It was custom at that time for the oldest son to inherit everything from his father and not the other sons... his oldest was sent away and was not legitimate in the lords eyes so therefore Isaac was his successor. Yes the lord does not want man to be alone because he needs a helper so Abraham wouldve still needed a helper to cook meals, make clothes, and keep the order of his affairs. However, because he already had a successor who married within the bloodline, he did not need to worry anymore about the fate of his descendants anymore and married someone from the nation. I would imagine the sons knew about each other and that Hagar told him the story of what happened with his father when he was growing up and that's how we have it recorded in the word today.
So the story of Jacob and Esaú is a turn in the Bible. Their twins but Rebekah was told that her youngest would rule her oldest by an angel, so her youngest Jacob was always her favorite as she held onto that promise from god and believed it. When Jacob had prepared the stew and Esaú came in starving, Esaú was worried with a worldly problem. He was so focused on his current hunger that he so foolishly relinquished his birthright (inheriting everything from his father as was the custom then) for a bowl of stew. Jacob carries the promise of Abrahams descendants as the angel told Rebekah and Esaú represents the ancestor of the foolish people in the world today who have not been reborn into the lords promise.
It's helpful to remember to always discern worldly problems and godly problems in your life to remain joyous in the lord. The people of the world today who are descendants of the line of Esaú are foolish and only focus on what's happening right in front of them in the moment, making their moods change with the wind. However, the children of god who are descendants of Jacob and Isaac and Rebekah and Abraham and Noah, etc., know better than to focus on problems of the world and know better than to focus on what's in front of us right here because our eyes are constantly focused on what's to come. We can keep our joy and prohibit our emotions from swaying from this peace within ourselves by remaining focused on our promise and walking closer and closer with our Heavenly Father. When we focus on Him instead, we can ignore the problems of this world and limit our reactions to it. So the two brothers represent the two types of people in the world. Believers and non-believers.
“See that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son. Afterward, as you know, when he wanted to inherit this blessing, he was rejected. Even though he sought the blessing with tears, he could not change what he had done.” Hebrews 12:16-17 NIV
