This is the promise of the Lord that He has made to all of His children: “Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the Lord.’ ”
Exodus 6:6-8
But the Israelites “did not listen because of their broken spirit and hard labor.”
Are you listening? Do you know others who are not listening to the promise because of their broken spirit? Thankfully, the Lord‘s response wasn’t to turn away and say “Well, they’re not listening. That’s that.” No. He instead insisted that Moses and Aaron go back to Pharaoh. He is a faithful God regardless of our sin! He helps us without getting anything from us in return. His love seems entirely reckless! Praise our loving Lord!
In the same way, He will faithfully fulfill the promise declared to us in this chapter as well! He will deliver us from our labor and redeem us with His outstretched arm and great acts of judgement in order to bring His people to His promised land! Praise God for this hope we have in Him!!
“It is not as though God’s word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham’s children. On the contrary, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” In other words, it is not the children by physical descent who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring.”
Romans 9:6-8
In chapter 6 of Exdous, the Lord is fulfilling his promise we are also introduced to how everyone is connected within the covenant.
Versus 1: “ Then the Lord said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.”
I would also have to agree that you’ve made some great points and connections with your recap you’ve hit the nail on the head here! Thank you for sharing!
