“I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.”
Exodus 3:8
Many people skip Exodus and Leviticus in Bible studies or popular devotionals because it’s full of law and they don‘t want their readers to think they’re promoting a lifestyle of legalism pulling them away from the grace of God. Or maybe they’re not sure how mature you are in your faith and don’t want to add a stumbling block for you not knowing who the reader may be and if they’re prepared enough to read the law yet. However, Exodus is a mirror to what we are living right now in the world. God put this book in here to show us how the world works. If we don’t read these books we are missing a huge message from the Lord about our lives and our future.
The Israelites at that time are about to be delivered by God through the hand of Moses, and God’s promise as stated in verse 8 is that he “came down to rescue them... and to bring them from that land to a good and spacious land.” That is our promise from the Lord For mankind, but since they fail with Moses, next will be through the hand of the Lord’s beloved Son, the only one who could do the job right, Jesus. We are about to see how humans failed to obtain that promise without the Holy Spirit, which is why we NEED Jesus in our hearts. We can understand clearly from their journey how it is impossible for us to make it without His grace! Jesus came down to rescue us from the power of the enemy and will return to bring us to a good and spacious land! I’m not sure how people understand the severity of their fall without reading these books in the Old Testament. I surely don’t want anyone to just be going through the motions of faith and not truly understand their incapability to keep His ways on their own. This and the next books will surely do that for you by the grace of the Holy Spirit.
Praise God that He has a plan to deliver us from this world into a new one and that He gave His one and only Son to help guide us through our wilderness and to teach us the ways of His land so that we may be ready when His day comes.
Isaiah 42:6 - “I, Yahweh, have called You for a righteous purpose, and I will hold You by Your hand. I will keep You and appoint You to be a covenant for the people and a light to the nations,
Well said. Thank you for your understanding ❤️
God understood that Moses committed that murder out of the hurt in his heart for the Israelites, God’s people. It’s similar to when Jesus overthrew the tables at the temple. We have these examples of godly men who show spats of anger which is not helpful for the righteousness of God, but thankfully He is a forgiving and compassionate God. The fact of the matter is that if we have His same Spirit inside of us, then the evil of this world WILL make us angry like it did them, we must just control that anger to promote the will of God. The Lord understood that that passion in Moses for the Hebrews is exactly what would be needed for…
In chapter 3 of Exodus, I was left with a lot of questions. When Moses was born I noticed that he was described as being a goodly child however he still committed a murder on the Egyptian people. Even after the murder God appeared unto him, I wonder why he didn’t receive a punishment because of his horrific act he committed, was this because of his bloodline, the covenant that ran within his family? Would the covenant be the reason why God would want to speak with him about freeing his people and bringing them to holy land? Did God grant Moses this task because he sees that he would be the only one to go against the Egyptians?
