Exodus 16

Writer's picture: SofiaSofia

The world says to “hustle hard” and be ”boss babes,” but the Lord says REST. He told the people in the wilderness not to save extra food so that they would not have a surplus for the next day. He also said don’t try and gather food every day of the week, but to rest. This is very opposite of the world where we have pantries, refrigerators and freezers full of food that sometimes goes to waste. Some people even have stockpiles gathered or bunkers full of food in case of an apocalypse... as if their own efforts could ever save them from the plans of God. Are you possibly overworking yourself for a certain goal that you are trying to accomplish by your own means as well? Do you know someone else who is? What is the reason driving that work? Could it be possibly out of a lack of trust or faith for the Lord to provide for their needs? Don’t chain yourself to that lie. People of the world enjoy their chains because the familiarity of them bring them comfort, much like the Israelites begged to be returned back to their slavery because at least then “they had pots of meat.” The Lord’s ways are so unknown to us because of how far we fall short of His glory that many people choose to remain enslaved since it is their ”comfort zone.” What will be your choice today, sister? Will you remain in the comfort of your chains or remove them for freedom in the Lord by complete faith in Him?

“There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:9-11‬
